Roll up, roll up! The Circus is in town.

As we near the end of term, Early Years have been “clowning about”. In class we have been making clown collages with different shapes and in the playground we have been playing hoopla and enjoying our newly donated circus play tent and giant “roller/tunnel”.

Our PE session on Monday also followed a circus theme so we experimented with spinning plates, juggling with balls and scarves and balancing on a beam whilst wearing silly hats!

On Wednesday we visited SPACE, the multi sensory play centre in Preston. We had great fun exploring all the different lights and soft play zones. Our favourites were definitely the giant slide and ball pool.  We all got very tired running up and down and jumping about, but it was brilliant fun.

We had a special visit on Thursday from “Peppa Pig” who came to join in a birthday celebration courtesy of two of our parents.  We then finished the week with a special pool party. Phew! we have been so busy!

We hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer. We send best wishes and good luck to all our friends who are moving on.  See you in September.

Space and light

blackout drum (2) rocket

This week we have had a very exciting Open Evening at which we welcomed some of our new families. Some of our existing pupils had the opportunity to show their siblings and parents the classroom and playground and take a tour of the whole school.

Our theme this week has been “Space” and we have had lots of fun in the blackout tent playing with torches and light up toys. We have made marks in “space gloop” (cornflour and water) and created rockets from cardboard tubes and glitter shapes. Our sensory story has been “whatever next?” all about a little bear who goes to the moon and we have enjoyed predicting what happens next.

We have been practising our obstacle race for Sports Day on Tuesday 8th July and also getting ready for Graduation. We are now ready for a nice rest over the weekend!

Autumn fun!

October 10th, 2013

With only two weeks to go before half term, Early Years have been out and about enjoying the crisp sunny weather! On Tuesday we went on the new school minibus to Space in Preston. We enjoyed exploring all the different sensory experiences especially the giant slide….weeeee!!!

We have been out into Kirkham, walking through the park collecting leaves and twigs.  We listened to the wind in the trees, saw a train speeding by and heard the church clock striking.  On the way back to school we called at the weekly market to choose two large pumpkins. These will be used as part of our class sensory experiences.

We had a visit from the fire service too, who came to talk to us about fire safety. They set up a dark room in which we had to pretend to be firefighters and find our way through an obstacle course!

We have also been very creative, making a textured collage of Felix the neuron from CBEEBIES’ Nina and the Neurons. We have enjoyed exploring different materials and sticking them to our picture.

Thank you for all the Autumnal items you collected over the weekend. We will be using these to make prints and different kinds of marks next week.
Next week on Tuesday the whole school is taking part in pink day in aid of Breast Cancer research, so we invite pupils to wear something pink for £1.
