Happy New Year

January 12th, 2018

What a fabulous first week back we have had! It has been lovely to see all your happy smiley faces again! We hope you’ve all had a brilliant Christmas break. Our topic this term is ‘People who Help Us’. We have had lots of fun in our role play post office, being postal workers, using the tills, buying lots of different things in the shop and posting our letters. We have even had a community visit to the post box, to post the Happy New Year’s cards we have been busy making! This was very exciting, we were all very good boys and girls! Our sensory story this term is ‘The Jolly Postman’ and we are really enjoying this story and exploring all of the props. We have been making playdough porridge for the three bears who feature in the story, using different size bowls and using the baking utensils. In the reading corner we have been creating our own stories using the felt characters and boards. On our writing table we have been designing our own stamps with our lovely faces on and doing lots of mark making with different tools. We especially liked using the cotton buds to make patterns. On our numeracy table we have been matching numbers to the right numbers on the envelopes. We have also been seeing if we can count the number of objects to match the number on the envelope.
