It’s Christmassssssss!

December 20th, 2017

It has been a wonderful end to the year in Early Years. This year’s nativity has been fantastic! We are all so proud of the children and how amazing they were in their different roles. There will be a DVD to purchase early next year for those of you that would like one. We are all getting so excited for Christmas! We have been singing lots of Christmas songs and playing lots of fun games. We have especially enjoyed the snow ball fights and seeing which team could build the tallest snowman out of the soft white building bricks! We have had lots of fun making Christmas crafts on the creative table and snowy wintery scenes. We have been busy designing our own snowmen out of playdough and decorating them with buttons all different shapes and sizes, pipe cleaners and cotton buds. We have been busy being Santa’s little helpers in our toy workshop role play area, making lots of toys and using all the different tools. Outside we have had the artic small world; we have really enjoyed exploring the different animals in the flour, rice and oats. We have also enjoyed playing with the penguins in the sparkly icy water outside, doing lots of pouring and helping the penguins slide down the water slides.
It was a lovely sunny day on Friday so we took the opportunity to have a walk into the local community. We stopped at Morrison’s café for some toast and snacks. All of the children were so well behaved, we were all very proud.
On Monday we had a visit from Lindsey’s dad who is a musician. He played us lots of Christmas songs and we even sang some songs we have been in practicing in class for him. He played the saxophone, flute and guitar. It made us all feel very Christmassy.
We had a fun party day yesterday and our visit from Father Christmas was magical! He told us we had all been very good boys and girls and gave us each a present. The grotto looked amazing!
Today is a day of mixed emotions. We are so excited to finish for Christmas but we are sad that it is Lesley’s last day. She has been a wonderful head teacher and we will miss her very much. We wish her a very happy retirement.
